Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology or related life sciences area 3 or more years of UNIX and Windows systems administration experience 1 or more years of experience supporting bioinformatics, cheminformatics or genomics software Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree Project Management experience Experience in an FDA regulated/validated environment (GMP / GLP)  The Specialist System Administrator is expected to function in a multidimensional team with informaticians, scientists, project managers, other R and D Informatics system administrators and can leverage IBM for basic services. The responsibilities will be to provide scientific systems administration and related support (primarily UNIX) to R and D informatics efforts (structural biology, molecular modeling and crystallography) that enable small and large molecule drug discovery research. They will provide domain expertise support for scientific computing and informatics areas which are outside IBMs scope for enterprise systems. They will provide full life-cycle systems administration support for information systems starting from business analysis, design, development, deployment, test, maintenance, and systems retirement. The System Administrator will respond to scientists needs by supporting in-house developed systems, integrating third-party systems, and by providing data mining expertise in support of research projects. They will serve as a Project Manager for small to large projects and will establish and maintain positive business relationships with managers and client base. They will consistently demonstrate a thorough understanding of the customers business, their processes, and their priorities, and use state-of-the-art techniques to ensure that system functionality and performance meet current and future business requirements by applying advanced theories, principles and concepts. They system administrator will maintain and demonstrate expert knowledge of information systems technology and resources throughout major segments of the client organization.
