Position Summary:


The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for all financial matters of the non-profit organization. The CFO will report to and work closely with the Executive Director. In addition, s/he will be a member of the management team and partner with them and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization that will position and maintain the organization in a sustainable financial state. The CFO will oversee all finance, administration, planning, budgeting and information technology. The CFO will also be responsible for compliance with contracts, grants and programs.


 


Responsibilities include:


   Accounting and Administration



  • Oversee and participate in the accounting function to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions.

  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.

  • Ensure timely preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.

  • Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns.

  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial and accounting functions.


 


   Finance and Planning



  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.

  • Coordinate the development and monitoring of agency and program budgets.

  • Develop financial business plans and forecasts.

  • Work closely with the management team and the Board of Directors to develop strategic financial goals.

  • Represent the company to financial partners, including financial institutions, auditors, public officials, etc.

  • Remain up to date on nonprofit accounting best practices as well as state and federal laws regarding nonprofit operations.


 


Qualifications



  • A minimum of a BS; a CPA and/or MBA a plus.

  • Experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting a must..

  • At least 6 years experience as CFO, controller or equivalent, preferably in an organization with a budget of at least $5 million.

  • Experience in a non-profit, with government contracts and/or with medical billing

  • Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff and the Board of Directors.

  • Experience in the development and implementation of financial management strategies.
